Kentucky Nurses Foundation launches its first ever fund drive

For the first time in its 43-year history, the Kentucky Nurses Foundation (KNF) will launch a fundraising campaign, “Honor a Nurse – Remember a Nurse,” Wednesday, February 14 – Monday, March 5 with a goal of raising $10,000. To donate today, visit kentucky-nurses.org or call 502-245-2843.

According to Delanor Manson, MA, BSN, RN, executive director of the Kentucky Nurses Association/Kentucky Nurses Foundation, “This initiative gives families, friends, colleagues, patients and their loved ones the opportunity to honor or remember a nurse who has touched their lives. The KNF will use funds raised for scholarships for student members of the KNA who are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs throughout the Commonwealth.” Manson adds, “By contributing, donors are recognizing the tireless efforts and dedication of nurses who go well beyond the call of duty for their patients and families. As we move forward in the coming months, we will seek every opportunity to affirm these care providers and offer them the education and support they need to grow within the nursing field.”

The KNF, established in 1975 as a 501 (c)(3) status foundation, has both a contractual and professional relationship with the Kentucky Nurses Association (KNA) to enhance achievement of the strategic goals of both organizations. The KNF has a long history of supporting nursing scholarship and research. Its mission is to promote the highest level of health for the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky by advancing the practice of nursing through nursing scholarship and healthcare research.

The KNA, established in 1906, is the only full-service professional organization for the state’s entire nurse population. In addition to promoting the essential role of the registered nurse in health care delivery, the KNA serves as an advocate for quality patient care in all settings.
