Marshall County students compete in Kentucky State Hoop Shoot

Matthew Langhi and Rylee Teague won the 8-9 age division at the Elks Kentucky State Hoop Shoot in Frankfort.

Rylee Teague and Matthew Langhi took first in the 8-9 age division at the Elks Kentucky State Hoop Shoot Saturday in Frankfort. Teague and Langhi were two of four from Marshall County that advanced from the district shoot in Madisonville to compete in Frankfort.

To take the title, Teague shot 19/25 finishing tied which forced a tie-breaker and on the third round was a perfect 15/15 while her opponent was 14/15. Langhi was 22/25 in his win. Kyzer Phillips competed in the 12-13 age division and placed second with 21/25.

These three reached the Kentucky State Hoop Shoot from a pool of close to 10,000 competitors that started at the local level. Teague and Langhi will advance to the Region 9 competition in Paris, TN on March 10th to compete for a chance to advance to the Elks National Hoop Shoot in Chicago, IL on April 21st.
