In a letter to principals across the state, the Kentucky Department of Education Commissioner, Steven Pruitt, asks all schools to wear orange and blue Friday.
In memory of the victims of last week’s Marshall Co. school shooting and in honor of the staff and students at Marshall Co. High School, I am asking Kentuckians statewide to wear the school’s colors of blue and orange on Friday, Feb. 2.
So that the residents of Marshall Co. know that they remain in our thoughts and prayers, please consider taking pictures showing your support and post on social media with the tag #MarshallStrong.
Many schools across the state are taking on other projects to express their care for the students and staff of Marshall Co. High School and I encourage all our schools to do so. Marshall Co. Superintendent Trent Lovett and Marshall Co. High School Principal Patricia Greer tell me the support expressed already has been overwhelming and they are most appreciative.
The healing and recovery process will be long and after the spotlight on this tragedy dims, it is important that the residents of Marshall Co. know they are still on our minds and in our hearts.
Please help us spread the word about this effort to show Marshall Co. our support. I will be wearing blue and orange on Friday and hope you will join me.
Thank you.
Stephen Pruitt, Ph.D.
Commissioner of Education
