Friday’s 48-9 win over Ohio County put the Lady Marshals in Saturday’s championship game against Grayson County in the Lady Storm United Mine Workers of America Classic at Hopkins County Central following wins over Greenwood and Brighton, TN in Pool A. Grayson County advanced to the championship game in Pool B with wins over Daviess County, Northeast, TN and Hopkins County Central in overtime.
In their win over Ohio County, the Lady Marshals led 12-3 at the end of the first quarter and held Ohio County to zero points in the second quarter to lead 32-3 at halftime, led by Layne Pea in the first half with 14 points. Tera Colson opened the second half with a three, followed by baskets from Cayson Conner and Emily Bridges which led to a running clock the remainder of the game.
The Lady Marshals held Ohio County to six points in the second half in their 48-9 win and were led in scoring by Pea with 16 points.

Conner opened Saturday’s championship game with a three before two straight baskets by Grayson County put them up 4-3. Conner followed her three up with a basket to put the Lady Marshals back on top by one, a lead they never relinquished the remainder of the game, going up 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.
Grayson County cut the Lady Marshals lead to one point in the second quarter behind the scoring of Bailey Snyder. A three point play by Presley Jezik put them back up by three at 22-18, cut again to two on a basket by Kenzie Renfrow, the closest the Lady Cougars would get the rest of the game. Conner picked up a loose ball and scored at the buzzer for a 26-20 Lady Marshal lead.
The Lady Marshals outscored Grayson County 18-4 in the third quarter to extend their lead out to 20 points at 44-24 and held the 20 point margin in the fourth quarter winning by a final score of 49-29 while holding the Lady Cougars to just nine second half points.
Conner led with 19 points and was selected Player of the Game.
