Local first responders and Emergency Management personnel on Tuesday, Dec. 19 participated in training sessions at the Calvert City Fire Training Center with the Calvert Industrial Mutual Aid (CIMAP) organization to strengthen area response to emergency situations related to the chemical complex in Calvert City.
CIMAP is a coalition composed of industrial companies operating in the Calvert City industrial complex, that establish a plan of cooperative action to assist member companies in the event of an emergency beyond the plant’s capability to control alone, according to the CIMAP charter. The purpose is extended to include facilitating communication and cooperation with local agencies to provide assistance to CIMAP members and the public.
Tuesday’s training played out two scenarios, according to the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency: A semi fire involving Hazmat and worker rescue, wherein responders were required to use rope rescue techniques.
The training brought together response crews from across the county, including member companies, emergency management, Calvert City and Gilbertsville fire departments and Marshall County EMS.
