Kentucky State Police investigating injury collision in Lyon County

Kentucky State Police are investigating a Monday afternoon vehicle collision which injured three people. At approximately 3:45 p.m., KSP Troopers responded to U.S. Highway 62 near the intersection of Interstate 69 for a two-car crash.

Preliminary investigation has shown Fred D. Meeks, 62, of Flint, Mich., was attempting to turn his 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche from a driveway onto Hwy. 62 immediately prior to the collision. Maryline F. Mead, 68, of Kuttawa, was driving her 2003 Ford F150 westbound on Hwy.62 immediately prior to the collision. Meeks failed to yield right-of-way to Mead’s vehicle and the two vehicles collided.

Meeks was taken by ambulance to Lourdes Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries received during the crash. Mead and a
passenger in her vehicle, Alexander J. Hueber, 21, of Evansville, Ind., were taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of non-life threatening injuries received during the collision.

KSP was assisted at the scene by Eddyville Police, Eddyville Fire Department, Kuttawa Fire Department, Lyon County Rescue and Lyon County Ambulance Service.

The investigation remains ongoing.
