A Benton man was arrested last night, after police say he shot a firearm into the air during an altercation at a home in the county and then later fled police.
According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched Sunday, Oct. 29 to Tubbs Road in reference to an altercation involving a gun. The alleged victim reported to police that two men came to his home uninvited and when asked to leave, one of the men took out a pistol and fired into the air.
The alleged victim told police that the men would be going to Hilldale Apartments in Hardin.
Deputies say they later observed a woman driving the vehicle matching the description of that involved in the previous incident parking at Hilldale; two men exited the vehicle. Deputies confronted the men, who allegedly then ran into the woods.
The woman driving the car allegedly attempted to leave but was ordered to exit the vehicle. Deputies say at that time, they found a small child in the back seat.
A search of the car allegedly yielded a backpack containing a glass pipe and a used syringe. Police say the pipe contained traces of methamphetamine, according to field test results.
The driver of the car, Amberlee Henson, 26, of Benton, was arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended or revoked license, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Some time later, deputies found Austin Estes, 20, of Benton, on an upper floor of the apartments. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and second-degree disorderly conduct. Estes also reportedly had two active warrants on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking.
They were taken to Marshall County Detention Center.
