Mayfield man arrested on wanton endangerment charges after nearly striking responders at accident scene

A Mayfield man is facing charges after police say he failed to stop at an accident scene being worked by first responders and nearly struck them.

According to Kentucky State Police, Justin A. Crittendon, 28, of Mayfield was arrested on four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, operating on a suspended license, no insurance, improper equipment and no vehicle registration.

Police say first responders were working a tw0-vehicle crash about 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 on the 9000 block of Ky. Highway 131 in Symsonia, when Crittendon approached the scene in a truck and failed to stop as responders directed traffic. Crittendon’s vehicle allegedly nearly struck two firefighters, a KSP trooper and a Graves County Sheriff’s Deputy.

KSP stopped the vehicle and arrested Crittendon. Upon his arrest, troopers also discovered he had four warrants for his arrest related to a 2017 misdemeanor and felony cases in Marshall County. He was taken to Graves County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
