Patricia Greer

Marshall County Schools Superintendent Trent Lovett has confirmed that Patricia Greer has been named as new head principal at Marshall County High School.

Lovett said the school’s Site Based Decision Making Council met and made the decision to hire Greer for the position Monday. The vote was unanimous, according to a district news release.

“Ms. Greer has been an effective leader in our district for many years,” Lovett said in a release to media. “Without a doubt, she will continue the strong tradition of educational leadership at Marshall County High School. I am excited for the future, and I am very proud for Ms. Greer.”

Greer has served as assistant principal at Marshall County High School since the 2012-13 school year. Greer joined the staff at MCHS in 2003 as a math teacher, secondary math curriculum coach and softball coach. She is a graduate of Murray State University, having earned a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Master of Arts in Administration from the university. Greer earned both her Rank I in Administration and superintendent certification from University of the Cumberlands, according to the district website.

She earned the Campbellsville University Excellence in Teaching award in 2012. The award was established in 1987 to recognize quality teaching and learning in Kentucky.

“I could not be more excited being named principal at Marshall County High School,” Greer said in a district news release. “It is an honor to be able to serve such an amazing community of dedicated staff and students. Marshall County has a tradition of high student achievement and growth, and I look forward to continuing these efforts by building strong relationships with our staff, students and community.”

Greer replaces Amy Waggoner, who retired Oct. 1 after eight years as head principal at the school.
