CASA by the Lakes hosted its annual Chili Challenge and Carnival Saturday at Mike Miller Park in Draffenville. The event brought participants out to vote for and enjoy a bowl of their favorite chili, play cornhole, visit the petting zoo and inflatables or play fall festival games.
Chili Challenge participants included Park Avenue Properties, Neal and Lambert Family Funeral Home, Jonathan’s Chili Chicks, Marshall County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, CFSB, Omnivision, Heritage Bank and Mike and Tiffany Carlson. The Carlsons won first place honors for the second year at Saturday’s event.
Saturday’s event raised $1,500 for CASA by the Lakes.
CASA — Court Appointed Special Advocates — is a nonprofit organization that seeks to provide volunteers to mentor and act as advocates for children removed from their homes by the court. The local organization, CASA by the Lakes, serves children in Marshall and Calloway counties. The group runs off grant funding, donations and fundraising initiatives.
