Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Johnston, age 91 of Benton, KY died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY. She was a retired cook for the Benton Independent School System where she worked for 27 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton for 86 years and was a member of the WMU.
Born Wednesday, September 22, 1926 in Benton, KY, she was the daughter of the late Luther Kirkland McGregor and the late Clemmie Jane (Thompson) McGregor.
Surviving are son, Rick Johnston, wife Teresa of Benton, KY, daughter, Sherry Johnston of Benton, KY, grandson, Andrew Kirkland Johnston of Benton, KY, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Richard Johnston, her parents, and sisters, Patsy Galloway and Betty Cope.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Joe Daryl Thorn and Rev. Don Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow in Benton Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.
