Alleged disorderly conduct at hospital leads to fugitive from justice charge

A Tennessee woman wanted on felony meth charges in Illinois was arrested Monday after an altercation at Marshall County Hospital.

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, about 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, deputies and officers with the Benton Police Department responded to the Marshall County Hospital ER after a woman called to lodge a complaint that the hospital staff would not see her. Police say investigation indicated that the caller, identified as Angela Gruner of Puryear, Tenn., was allegedly yelling at ER personnel, threatening nurses by reaching through a space in the glass partition at them and conducting herself in a disorderly manner in the lobby.

Gruner was eventually seen by hospital staff and released. Police say Gruner was “manifestly under the influence” and allegedly admitted to smoking methamphetamine.

She was arrested upon her hospital release on suspicion of second-degree disorderly conduct, public intoxication – controlled substance, excludes alcohol and fugitive from justice, after police discovered Gruner was allegedly wanted on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine in Illinois.

Gruner was taken to and housed in the Marshall County Detention Center.
