The face of H.H. Lovett Park took a dramatic shift this week, when crews demolished the old pool house at the Benton City Pool to prepare for construction of a new facility.
Benton Mayor Rita Dotson said crews were expected to begin construction Oct. 15 and hoped to complete the project by early spring, prior to the swimming season. The 1,900 square-foot facility will include storage for supplies, as well as a concession area. Total Construction costs on the new facility were expected to reach about $250,000. The city applied in March for a $75,000 land and water conservation grant — which the city must match — to construct the new pool house. Benton resident Joe Tom Haltom also committed up to $100,000 funding to complete the project.
Benton-based Pinnacle Inc. will serve as the contractor for the new pool house project.
