
Forty students at Marshall County High School have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams, up from 33 last school year.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. MCHS offers 16 different Advanced Placement options.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP Exams.
To be considered an AP Scholar, students must receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. Thirty-one students at MCHS were designated AP Scholars for the 2016-17 year. These students are: David Antosh, Jase Baker, Isaac Bayer, Curtis Bradley, Conrad Cash, Briley Chambers, Garrett Clark, Thomas Colburn, Cailee Davis, Derek Doss, Tory Driskill, Joseph Eaton, Claire Edwards, Olivia Erbacher, Caitlin Harvey, Taylen Henry, Victoria Howe, Jacob Largent, Tessa Northcutt, Elizabeth Padgett, Destyn Pearson, Hunter Peck, Jarrett Radcliffe, Matthew Ray, Cora Robinson, Benjamin Samson, Devin Swain, Jackson Yates, Nolan Yates, Amos York and Matthew Youngblood.
Four students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Jackson Beal, Samantha Bearden, Claire Harmon, and Shelton Owen.
Five students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Jackson Chumbler, Kalee Gray, Ian Harrington, Sarah Knoth, and Skyler Sharp.
These 40 students have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their AP Exam performance. The Advanced Placement Program and the AP Exams are rigorous and challenging. Marshall County Schools commends each of these students for their hard work, dedication and exceptional performance.
