Marshall County’s boy’s team took home the hardware once again after placing first in the St. Mary Invitational cross country meet at Paducah’s Noble Park among 11 teams in the varsity division. Second place went to Graves County and Calloway County took third.
Nick Coffey of Hickman County took first covering the 5K race in 17:18.40, Garrett Wilson from Graves County was second in 17:21.20 and Marshall County’s Mason Cosner crossed the line in third in 17:43.40. Finishing in the top 10 for the Marshals – Christian Cosner placed sixth in 18:31.90 and Matt Ray eighth in 18:51.10.
The girl’s varsity division race was won by Muki Kummann of University Heights in 21:09.60, second place from Graves County went to Carley Dowdy in 21:41.60 and third was St. Mary’s Madelyn Waltmon in 21:54.00. Gabbi Lovett had the best finish among the Marshall County girls placing 10th in 22:53.20.
The team from Graves County took first, second went to Paducah Tilghman and Calloway County placed third. The Lady Marshals placed fifth.
In the 4,000 meter middle school races, Marshall County runners Samuel Lanham and Alexia Minter both stopped the clock in first place. Lanham finished in 14:17.90 and Minter in 17:54.50. Right behind Lanham in second place was teammate Ethan McCarty in 14:24.80. Both middle school teams placed second behind the boy’s team from Trigg County and Lake Road Middle School girl’s team.
Marshall County will host the Marshall County Invitational on Saturday.
