
Benton Police Department officers arrested two men in separate incidents Friday on suspicion of intoxication of controlled substances.
According to BPD, about 8:30 a.m. Friday, officers reported to the City of Benton maintenance garage after a city employee called police when he found a man asleep in his vehicle on the grounds. The subject allegedly stumbled around upon exiting the vehicle, according to the caller.
Upon arrival, officers allegedly observed him exiting the back seat on the drivers side and initiated contact. Officers noticed several signs of impairment, according to BPD statements.
Police arrested Michael Spiceland, 44, of Benton on suspicion of public intoxication, controlled substances (excludes alcohol).
About 10:12 a.m. Friday, officers responded to Walmart after dispatchers received reports concerning a potentially intoxicated man riding a motorcycle in the area. Officers located the suspect inside the store, and observed him allegedly “manifestly under the influence.”
Police arrested Larry R. Coursey, 47, of Calvert City, and charged him on suspicion of public intoxication, controlled substance (excludes alcohol).
BPD reminds residents that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
