Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Detectives have filed additional charges on a local man after police say DNA evidence collected at a previous incident have implicated his involvement.

According to MCSD, detectives opened a burglary investigation in March 2016 on a break-in near Calvert City. Investigators say they have since determined that sample had been left by a man already incarcerated at Marshall County Detention Center.

Curtis Ray Dukes, 34, of Murray, was served with a new warrant Wednesday, charging him with second-degree burglary in connection to the incident. Dukes was initially arrested April 17, 2016, after deputies responded to a report that he’d allegedly broken into and stolen items from a vehicle on Barrett Road. The victim reportedly confronted Dukes, who allegedly pulled a weapon on her and then fled.

Deputies later found Dukes who was allegedly in possession of a BB handgun, as well as items from the vehicle. He was arrested and charged on suspicion of first-degree robbery. Further investigation of Dukes’ home yielded additional charges of second-degree burglary, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Police say the search uncovered other items reported stolen in the county on separate occasions and methamphetamine.

Dukes remains in the Marshall County Detention Center.
