Three local students were recently selected to receive the 2017 Pat and Bobby Cole scholarship.
Scholarship winners Caitlin Harvey and Elizabeth Padgett were recognized and presented awards during a meeting of the Marshall County Republican Women; Shelton Owen, a third scholarship winner was unable to attend but was presented her award at a later date, according to MCRW.
Scholarship namesake Bobby Cole presented the awards. MCRW raises money for the scholarships through various fundraising events.
Harvey is the daughter of Ginger and Michael Harvey. She plans to attend the University of Alabama.
Owen is the daughter of Karen and Joe Owen. She also plans to attend the University of Alabama.
Padgett is the daughter of Susan and Danny Padgett. She plans to attend the University of Louisville.
Scholarships are available to senior girls enrolled in either Marshall County High School or Christian Fellowship School. Applications for 2018 selection will be available after the first of the year, according to MCRW. For more information about applying, interested students contact their school’s guidance counselor.
