
Calloway County struck first, scoring off a free kick that rebounded off the crossbar and sent into the net by Elle Carson in the ninth minute of the game, but from there it was all Marshall County, scoring the next four goals to beat the Lady Lakers 5-1 and improve their record to 4-2 while Calloway, in just their second game of the season, falls to 0-2.

In the 13th minute of the game, Kylee Crass from Bailey Wood scored to tie the game 1-1 and five minutes later, it was Wood this time scoring 30 yards out on an assist from Carmen Gunn and the Lady Marshals led 2-1 at halftime.
Just over 30 seconds into the second half, Gunn scored on an assist from Lindy King for a 3-1 Lady Marshal lead. Wood got her second goal of the game six minutes into the half to make it a 4-1 game and the final goal was number two of the night for Gunn, for the 5-1 district win.
The Lady Marshals had 24 shots in the game, 18 on goal and five corners while Carlen Whirley had five saves. The Lady Lakers took eight shots, six on goal, two corners and 13 saves by Hannah Dodd.
Saturday at Henderson County, the Lady Marshals will play a JV – Varsity double-headers starting at 5:30.
