Sheriff’s deputies make DUI arrests after ATV crash, report of disturbance

A local man is facing charges after Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies say he crashed his ATV near Benton.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to an ATV wreck Friday on Henson Lane in Benton. Police say Kelvin L. Ham, 46, of Benton was charged with DUI, second-degree wanton endangerment and third degree criminal mischief as a result of the investigation.

Deputies on Friday also arrested a Missouri man after police responded to a disturbance on KY Highway 402. According to MCSD, police charged Jimmie Medlin of Caruthersville, Mo., with fourth-degree assault, DUI, possession of an open alcoholic beverage, failure of owner to maintain insurance and failure to produce an insurance card after deputies stopped the vehicle reported in the call and found Medlin along with an alleged victim.

A Paducah woman faces charges after deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 24. According to MCSD, Tiffany Smiley, 33, of Paducah was pulled over on I-24 after deputies allegedly observed her speeding down the interstate. As police approached the vehicle during the stop, deputies reported the odor of burned marijuana was coming from the car. Further investigation yielded charges of speeding (15 mph over), possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and no registration plates.

Smiley was cited to appear in Marshall County District Court.
