Local woman facing wanton endangerment charge after alleged vehicle theft

A local woman is facing charges after police say she stole a man’s truck and then nearly hit him with it.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft Tuesday near Benton. Upon investigation, police say the alleged victim, David Hoffmeyer of Benton, told deputies that Shirley P. Henderson of Benton, had taken his truck without permission. Hoffmeyer also alleged Henderson almost struck him as she backed out of the residence and drove away.

Deputies found the vehicle and Henderson about an hour later.

Henderson was arrested and charged on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking $500 or more and first-degree wanton endangerment.
