Deputies arrest two on drug charges during attempt to serve warrant

Two west Kentucky residents are facing charges, after police say they discovered illegal activity while attempting to serve a warrant.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded on Friday to the 5000 block of U.S. Highway 62 to serve an active warrant. Deputies did not locate the suspect named in the warrant, but discovered activity that led to charges on two other individuals at the scene, in addition to serving another active warrant.

Police arrested William Dale Dixon, 39, of Paducah on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon by prior deadly weapon felony offender; first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; and providing an officer with false indentifying information. In addition, deputies served a warrant on Dixon for parole violation from Livingston County.

Deputies also apprehended Tammy Rachele Whittington, 42, of Calvert City at the scene. She was charged on suspicion of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second offense; first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), second offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana; and second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension.

Dixon and Whittington were taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.
