
Fay Lynn “Pete” Cox, 85, of Benton, died Friday, August 4, 2017, at his
residence in Benton. Mr. Cox was a U.S. Marine Veteran serving during the Korean
Conflict. He was retired from General Tire Manufacturing in Mayfield and a member
of Oak Valley Church of Christ.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Bond of Benton and Donna Johnson of
Hickory; five sons, David Ray of Hickory, Dale Ray of Franklin, Tenn., Steven
Freeman of Pryorsburg, Ricky Freeman of Kuttawa and Kenneth Freeman of
Benton; one brother, Farrell Cox of Mayfield; three sisters, Nell Gwinn Sims
of Farmington, Clarene Wilson of Boaz and Louetta Lawrence of Warren, Mich.;
17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Ray Cox; second wife, Shirley
Jane Cox; one brother, Wendell Cox; and his parents, Eulis and Ethel Sunshine Mills
Cox.
Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 3 p.m., Tuesday, August 8,
2017, David Hendrickson officiating. Interment will be at New Sand Hill Cemetery,
Graves County, KY. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. on Monday
at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
