Troopers arrested a Princeton man late Saturday night after an argument ended in shots being fired.

KSP Post 1 received a call at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3 stating shots had been fired in the parking lot of the Mobile gas station near exit 45 of Interstate 24 in Lyon County. Troopers responded to the area and located several witnesses who directed them to a man who was reported to have fired the shots.

Initial investigation revealed Hushton R. Burton and Jennifer L. Boyd had been in a verbal argument in the Mobile gas station parking lot, according to a KSP media release. When Boyd began to leave in her vehicle, Burton allegedly fired two shots from a handgun toward her. There were also two small children in Boyd’s vehicle at the time of the shots being fired.

Troopers took Burton, 33, of Princeton, into custody. While in the back seat of the KSP cruiser, Burton allegedly threatened the troopers and kicked out a back window. Burton was charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree criminal mischief, two counts of terroristic threatening, second-degree disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

During the investigation, Troopers also arrested Boyd, 28, of Clarksville, Tenn. She was charged with DUI, failure to notify address change to department of transportation and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle. She was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department assisted on scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
