Recently, the Marshall County Hospital and the Marshall County Hospital Auxiliary, gave four academic scholarships to qualifying high school senior students entering college with a concentration in health careers.
Recipients were: Shannon Powell, Alexandria Terrell, Sarah Thompson and Madeline Henson. Pictured with the recipients are David Fuqua, MCH Administrator and Lou Anne Larson, MCH Auxiliary member.
The Marshall County Hospital Foundation and Auxiliary each fund several scholarships annually to deserving and qualified students. Qualifications include taking the health career course of studies offered at MCHS, maintaining an overall “B” average, and an “A” average in health career curriculum. Students must plan to pursue studies in a health related career.
“We are fortunate to have a generous group of volunteers that donate to the hospital and the community in so many ways,” stated Marica White, MCH Public Relations Director. Funds raised from their various fundraisers throughout the year support this scholarship effort.
“We are excited to offer scholarships to these most deserving recipients,” said Phyllis Blackwell, Chief Clinical Officer at Marshall County Hospital. “It is important that MCH be proactive to ensure that qualified and competent people are entering a health related field of study. Marshall County High School does a great job of preparing their students, through the health careers curriculum, to further their studies in a health career. We are proud of these students and wish them well.”
