Georgia McWhorter Yancy, 96, of Paducah died peacefully in her sleep and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 29, 2017. Mrs. Yancy was born November 4, 1920, in Clinton County, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Carl Yancy, and her son, Denis Yancy. Georgia received Christ at a Billy Graham event in the LA Coliseum in 1963, and she dedicated the rest of her life to taking care of her family and serving the Lord. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a skilled country cook and enjoyed making quilts and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Altona Baptist Church in Calvert City where she received much love and support over the years.
She is survived by her son, Dale (Renee) Yancy, daughter-in-law, Sindy Yancy (Denis), grandchildren Lea Schaub (Rupert), Nathan Yancy (Elena), Sarah Walton (Arrent), Joshua Yancy, and Noah Yancy, great grandchildren Scotty Intravia, Sierra Intravia, Trey, Tyler, and Trinity Schaub, Lane and Jack Walton, and nephew Malcolm Smith (Rosa).
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Roger Rice officiating.
Interment will follow in the Iuka Cemetery, Iuka, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Collier Funeral Home.
