Comer to host town hall meeting in Marshall

U.S. Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), speaks to residents April 12 in Dixon during a scheduled town hall meeting. Comer will host a meeting May 10 in the Marshall County Fiscal Courtroom at the old courthouse in Benton.

U.S. Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) has scheduled a town hall meeting for 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 in the Marshall County Fiscal Courtroom at 1101 Main St. in Benton.

The event comes as the next in a series of town hall meetings Comer has hosted throughout the first congressional district in Kentucky. The first-term congressman recently completed a set of 12 meetings in as many counties in April, including McCracken, Trigg and Lyon. According to his website, Comer plans to host at least one in each of the 35 counties within the district by the end of his first year in office.

It’s my job to show up at town hall forums to listen to the questions and concerns of my constituents,” Comer said in a news release. “We may not agree on every issue, but there are many where we can find common ground to work for the greater good.

Many people have showed up at each town hall and asked great questions to get my stance on issues and help me better understand other legislative topics,” Comer added.

Comer, the former Kentucky commissioner of agriculture, was elected last year to fill the unexpired term of Rep. Ed Whitfield and his own bid for the office.
