Cadiz police officer struck by vehicle

A school resource officer for the Cadiz Police Department was hospitalized on Monday after he was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic.
According to Kentucky State Police reports, Officer David Colbert was directing traffic about 3:38 p.m. Monday on Main Street in front of Trigg County High School when George A. Hicks, 72, of Cadiz, hit Colbert in his 2004 Chevrolet van. Colbert was taken to Trigg County Hospital for treatment of injuries not deemed life-threatening.
Police believe heavy rain and decreased visibility were factors in the accident. No criminal charges were anticipated as of Monday night.
KSP was assisted on scene by Cadiz Police Department, Trigg County Sheriff
Department, Trigg County Rescue, and Trigg County Ambulance Service.
