Jane Sammons

Mrs. Jane Brindley Sammons, age 92, went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2017 at Lakeway Nursing Home in Benton, KY. She was a Christian and a member of the Sharon Baptist Church in Mayfield, KY. As a member of the Baptist faith, she believed in the Bible. 2 Corinthians 5:8 says “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

She was the daughter of the late Alfred “Casey” Jones and the late Felma Spurrier. She grew up Between the Rivers in the Jenny Ridge area. She enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music and traveling. She was a quilter who made beautiful quilts. She was a hard worker and wonderful mother and grandmother.

She is survived by three sisters: Dorothy Anderson, Zelpha Jeffries, and Sylvia Bradshaw. She is also survived by her children: Shirley Turner (Bob), Earlene Cool (Arnold), Jim Brindley (Margie), Barbara Davis (John), and Stanley Brindley (Connie). Ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren survive her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred “Casey” Jones and Felma Spurrier, 2 sisters, Bessie Elliott and Lilli Mae Joyce, and two brothers Robert Jones and Fine Jones, her husbands, Jesse Brindley and Donald Sammons, and three of her children, Carolyn Brindley, Richard Brindley, and Darlene Colson.

Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Union Ridge Cemetery, Aurora, KY. Services conducted by Arnold Cool (son-in-law) and music by John Davis (son-in-law) and family.
