
ELIZABETHTOWN – The Lady Marshals traveled to Elizabethtown over the weekend, playing three games in the Big M Chevrolet Classic. Friday they beat Owensboro Catholic 3-1, Saturday lost 4-2 to undefeated #1 Scott County then finished with a 4-2 win over Holy Cross.
After losing 9-5 to Owensboro Catholic on March 18th, the Lady Marshals turned the tables with their 3-1 win on seven hits with the win going to Aubree Jo Kemp in seven innings, allowing one run, four hits and striking out four batters. Hits for the Lady Marshals came from Kinley Edwards, two from Sarenna Tomassi that included a home run and an RBI, two hits by Gracey Murt and two by Kaycee Kemp with two RBI’s.
Saturday’s first game against Scott County was tied 2-2 through four innings before the Lady Cardinals scored a run in the fifth and one more in the sixth for the 4-2 win on seven hits.
Lady Marshal hits came from Addie Young and Edwards with doubles and singles from Tomassi and two by Cayson Conner. Shelby Wadkins pitched 5.1 innings allowing six hits and four runs. Gabbi Lovett finished the game on the mound allowing one hit and no runs.
Their last game in Elizabethtown resulted in a 4-2 win over Holy Cross on five hits. Lovett picked up the win on the mound in seven innings, allowing seven hits, two runs and striking out three. Lady Marshal hits came from Conner with a double and RBI and singles by Lexee Miller, Young, Tomassi and Presley Jezik. Gracey Murt drove in a run with two more scored on Holy Cross errors by Lexee Miller and Tomassi.
The 6-3 Lady Marshals will play their next game at Christian County on Tuesday at 6:00, then spend Spring Break playing in Alabama.
