Loman Powell

Mr. Loman Lee Powell, 85 of Benton, Kentucky passed on Friday, March 10, 2017 and was born on Monday, May 25, 1931, Loman passed away at home on Friday surrounded by his family.

When Maw and Paw called, those kids came running. He never met a stranger he wasn’t kin too. He was a long time member at Oak Level United Methodist Church. He also loved his farm, cattle, and tractors.

He taught each Powell boy how to run a tractor before hay season. He served in the army, worked construction and later retired from General Tire.

Mr. Powell is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dixie (Harrison) Powell of Benton, KY, their three sons, Ricky Powell and wife Anita of Benton, KY, David Powell and wife Connie of Benton, KY, Jerry Powell and wife Monica of Benton, KY, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and one sister Verda Champion of Reidland, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents Brent and Carrie (Bohannon) Powell, brother Dean Powell, and 2 infant sisters.

He was raised by his grandparents Jim and Doley Bohannon.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with the Bro. Bob Field and Bro. Joe Daryl Thorn officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Middle Fork Church Cemetery Fund, 251 Jackson School Rd. C/O Aaron Thorn.
