On Monday, Benton Elementary School received notice from the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) that we were selected to receive the Read to Achieve (RTA) grant for 2017-2018! The yearly award is worth $50,000 and is renewable for up to 4 years for a total of $200,000 for targeted reading interventions for our students!
We also received a $50,000 math grant award from KDE earlier in the year that is also renewable for up to 4 years. Put the grants together and that is $100,000 in math and reading intervention services for next year! Looking over the next 4 years, we’ll have access to $400,000 in grant monies!
Next year, it’s our plan for EVERY kindergarten and 1st grade student to have their very own iPad Air to use in their classroom. It’s also our plan for EVERY student in grades 2-5 to have their very own Dell student laptop to use in their classroom. Our 1:1 technology dream is going to become a reality!
