Early morning storm produces damage across the area

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports several issues across the region. There are reports of numerous traffic signals on flashing mode or that are dark, power outages as well as trees and limbs down and other debris that has closed a few roads and urge motorists to be alert.
In Marshall County, there are reports of trees down across the county, damage to buildings including the Kentuckiana Yacht Sales building on Hwy. 641, siding off of homes and debris blown around.
Lyon County appears to be among the hardest hit areas overnight.
This morning the KYTC District 1 Bridge Crew was dispatched to assist the Lyon County Highway Maintenance Crew with opening highways around the county.
All state highways in Lyon County are now passable. Tree limbs have been cut up and pushed aside.
Motorists are advised to continue to use caution as utility crews will be working to restore power through much of the day.
The KYTC Lyons County Crew will likely spend much of the next week going back to many locations to remove trees and limbs from state right of way.
Numerous barns around the county have been severely damaged or destroyed. Several homes are reported to have damage.
A line of storms passed through the area around 5:30 am, producing hail, heavy rain and strong winds that registered up to 70 miles per hour. Due to the storm, damages and power outages, many schools ran an hour to two hours late including Marshall County schools.
