
DRAFFENVILLE – The Marshals followed up the girl’s win with a senior night win over Mayfield. Tristen Prange and Houston Harvey, the Marshals two seniors this season, will get one last time to play in Reed Conder Gymnasium next Thursday in the 4th District Championship game against the winner of Tuesday’s Murray/Calloway County game.
Mayfield came into Tuesday’s game with a record of 19-8 and are on their way to their first winning season since 2012-2013 with wins over McCracken County, Paducah Tilghman and Calloway County.

The Marshals opened with a 7-0 run on baskets by Aaron Reed and a two and three pointer from Houston Harvey before Mayfield’s Jordan Harrison put the Cardinals on the board. One more point on a free throw by Reed for Marshall County before Mayfield scoreed the next six points to tie the game 8-8.
The Marshals stretched their lead back out to five point on a basket by Tyler Stokes and following a field goal by Harrison, Stokes scored again to put the lead back to five at 16-11. Mayfield put up the next five points on a three by Harrison and basket from Desean Jones to tie the game 16-16 at the end of the first quarter.
Reed and Matt French gave the Marshals a 20-16 lead but the Cardinals went on a 7-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 23-20. Reed sank two free throws to end the half with the Marshals trailing 23-22.
Lucas Nichols scored to open the second half and swing the lead back to the Marshals but it was answered with baskets by Harrison and Jones to put Mayfield up 27-24. A three from Conner Guthrie gave Mayfield a five point lead which would be their largest of the game before the Marshals tied the game 35-35 on a basket by French who followed it up with another basket to get the lead back for good.
An 11-0 run by the Marshals that began when the were down 35-31 ended on a free throw by Alonzo Daniel and they ended the third quarter leading 44-36.
French opened the fourth quarter with four points to give the Marshals a ten point lead they would stretch out to 19 following a steal and basket by Prange who followed that up with two more points for a 60-41 lead. Harvey hit his second three of the game for a 63-43 lead cut to 63-48 by Mayfield when Guthrie hit his fifth three in the game with the final two points coming from Reed in the 17 point win.
Reed finished the night with 24 points and 9 rebounds while Mayfield was led by Guthrie with 17 points, 15 coming from three point range.
