Marshall County Little League Basketball All-Star Games to be held Monday, Tuesday

BENTON, KY (February 1, 2017) — The best of 168 Marshall County 3rd through 5th grade basketball players will take the court for their final game of the season Monday at North Marshall Middle School and Tuesday at South Marshall Middle School in the annual Marshall County Little League All-Star Showcase.

Coaches cast their All-Star votes after each game throughout the regular season, and players received bonus votes based on their team’s record. Those players with the most votes in each age group were selected for the All-Star teams. Adding to the excitement, the 5th-grade boys’ All-Star teams will be coached by middle school coaches Eli Lathram from North Marshall and Cole Nelson and Chase Buchanan from South. North Marshall’s Mariah Wilson and South’s Doug Lyles will coach the 5th-grade girls’ teams.

Our motto is ‘Little things make big things happen,’ and based on the growth we’ve seen in all the players, we’ve accomplished some big things,” said Dave Washburn, Marshall County Little League Basketball president. “We hope the community will come out and watch the games Monday and Tuesday to show their support for the future of Marshall County basketball.”

Admission to the games is $3 for adults & $2 for students. Marshall County Little League players who wear their 2016-2017 Marshall County Little League t-shirt receive free admission as do all the All-Star players and volunteer coaches. Proceeds benefit the North Marshall and South Marshall middle school basketball programs and Marshall County Little League Basketball.

Marshall County Little League cheer squads will perform and be recognized at each game.

“Marshall County is fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteer coaches and parents who support athletics during these important formative years,” Washburn said.
