Eldridge Smith, age 75, of Oak Level, KY, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at his residence. He was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church and a die-hard, never give up University of Kentucky and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He worked for 30 years at Florshiem Shoe Company as a Maintenance Supervisor and retired after 15 years from James Sanders Nursery. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and also enjoyed playing and coaching softball.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susie Barefield Smith of Oak Level, KY; Two Daughters; Anita Wise and Husband Allen of Fresno, CA; and Penny Youngblood and husband Ronnie of Benton, KY; One Sister: Jan Winstead Odom of Symsonia; One Brother: Kenneth Smith of Symsonia; Four Grandchildren: Nicki Youngblood of Fresno, Ca, Jenna Youngblood of Princeton, KY; Haley Wise of Sumter, SC and Matthew Youngblood of Benton, KY; Two Great Grandchildren: Ayden Youngblood of Fresno, CA and Isaac Youngblood of Princeton, KY
He was preceded in death by his parents: Buran L. and Lalah Phelps Smith and a Brother: Byron Hulen Smith.
Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 9, 2017, Rev. Van Russell officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Benton, KY. Friends may visit with the family from 9 am to 2 pm on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY.
