
MURRAY – The Lady Marshals opened 4th District play on Friday with a 54-30 win over Calloway County, handing them just their second loss of the season, led in the game by Miyah Davis with 19 points and Hannah Langhi with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Their early 7-0 start was fueled by points from Tera Colson, Paige Henson and Davis before Calloway got on the board on a free throw from Charlee Settle. Davis and Langhi combined for the next five Lady Marshal points to lead 12-8 at the end of the first quarter.
With a 14-8 Marshall County lead in the second, Calloway’s Alicia Hornbuckle hit her first of three 3 -pointers in the game to cut the Lady Marshals lead to three, then tied it 14-14 on a second straight three from Hornbuckle. Lorin Powell, a three from Lexee Miller and free throws by Davis stretched the lead back out to seven points but Calloway would cut it again to trail by just two at halftime, 22-20.
The Lady Marshals out-scored the Lady Lakers 32-10 in the second half, quickly stretching their lead out to 10 early in the third quarter on eight straight points by Davis that including two 3 -pointers, on their way to a 38-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter. They went on to out-score Calloway 16-4 in the fourth for the 24 point win.
The win improves the Lady Marshals record to 13-3 while Calloway County dropped to 13-2. They will play Owensboro Catholic today at 6:00 with a JV game before at 4:30.
