Third place for the Lady Marshals at Disney World Holiday Tournament

Orlando, FL – The Lady Marshals wrapped up play in the KSA Events Holiday Tournament at Disney’s ESPN’s Wide World of Sports with a 51-36 win over Miami Northwestern for third place in the Red division.

Head Coach Joseph Simmons was happy with his team leaving Orlando with a 2-1 record in the tournament in one of the toughest brackets. They beat Covenant Christian, FL 51-31 in game one then lost to Mother McAuley, IL 55-39 in game two.

“I’m proud of their effort, I know they gave us everything they had”, Simmons said.

Emily Bridges gave the Lady Marshals their first points of the game followed by points from Lorin Powell, Hannah Langhi and Miyah Davis for a 12-10 first quarter lead, going on to stretch their lead out to 26-15 at halftime behind Langhi’s 11 first half points and 10 by Davis while holding the Lady Bulls to five points.

Langhi gave the Lady Marshals a 12 point lead to open the second half that the Lady Bulls would cut back to nine on a three by Deandrea Dumas. Miami Northwestern closed to within six points before a timely 3-pointer by Chloe Kerrick put the Lady Marshals up 35-26 and a final third quarter basket by Powell made it an 11 point lead.

The Lady Marshals out-scored the Lady Bulls 14-10 in the fourth quarter with scoring from Paige Henson, Powell, Langhi and Tera Colson. Langhi’s 18 points led all scorers and Dumas led Miami Northwestern with 17 points.

Langhi earned high point total honors with a recorded 42 (52 according to MC Daily stats) for the three games in the Red division.

The win improves the Lady Marshals record to 11-3 and their next game will be at home on January 3rd against Webster County.
