Marshals split games in WK&T Sports Classic

MAYFIELD – At Graves County High School in the WK&T Sports Classic, the Marshals split their two games, starting with a 61-56 win over Obion County, TN on Wednesday and a loss to Ripley, TN 66-61 on Thursday, their second loss of the season now with a record of 7-2.

Against Obion County, the Marshals led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter but the Rebels would outscore them in the second to cut the Marshals led to one at 27-26 before the half ended. In the second half, the Marshals outscored Obion County by four for the five point win.

The Marshals forced 24 Rebel turnovers and came up with 15 steals in the game and out-rebounded Obion County 38-23. Houston Harvey led with 17 points, 12 of which came from three point range. Blake Huggins led Obion County with 18 points.

Houston Harvey dropped in five 3-pointers on his way to leading the Marshals with 20 points against Ripley, TN on Thursday. Ripley led by 10 points after the first quarter but the Marshals’ surge in the second quarter put them up by two at halftime, 28-26

A very even second half of play went in favor of Ripley who led 41-37 at the end of the third quarter and out-scored the Marshals 25-24 in the fourth behind 30 points from Tre Alston.
