Due to high holiday traffic volume, we have a reported traffic back-up on I-24 WESTBOUND at the 30 mile marker. This site is restricted to one lane westbound due to an issue with a joint on the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge. All traffic is moved to the left-hand or passing lane at this site.
At last report, westbound traffic was moving about 55 miles per hour through this restricted area. However, with increased holiday traffic volume this creates enough of a delay to cause a traffic back-up.
We highly suggest local traffic self-detour around this lane restriction to help reduce traffic volume.
Local motorists may avoid this delay by taking Exit 40 and traveling US 62 to the Purchase Parkway Southbound to reconnect with the westbound lanes of I-24.
Westbound traffic is restricted at this site due to a joint on the bridge that is schedule to be replaced early in 2017.
