
DRAFFENVILLE – Marshall County and Shelbyville Central met in the championship game of the Lady Marshal Holiday Classic Wednesday with the Lady Marshals claiming the tournament title in a 51-43 win.
They led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter that was highlighted by eight points from Lorin Powell, four from Miyah Davis on two straight drives to the goal and a basket a piece by Paige Henson and Tera Colson.

Shelbyville Central cut the Lady Marshals lead to 18-16 in the second quarter on a 3-pointer by Jenna Holt, then tied the game at 18-18 on free throws by Romny Felts. The lead went back and forth six more times before the Lady Marshals went up 26-25 on a three by Davis to end the half.
AJ Mitchell gave Shelbyville the lead back with a field goal to start the second half but that was followed by three points from Hannah Langhi on a basket and free throw to go up by two points. They went on to lead 39-32 at the end of the quarter on a nice down court pass from Colson to Langhi for the score to end the quarter.
Langhi gave the Lady Marshals a 41-32 lead to start the fourth quarter, but once again Shelbyville wiped out the lead scoring the next seven points. Langhi scored the next four points to put them back up by six at 45-39 and they went on to build a 10 point lead with 1:52 remaining. Shelbyville, electing to not foul in the closing minute and a half, scored the final two points of the game.
Langhi led the Lady Marshals with 20 points while Shelbyville was led by Holt with 20, 18 of which came in the first half.
Dyer County defeated Shelby County 61-30 for 3rd place in the tournament. Casey County took 5th with their 67-39 win over Butler County and 7th went to Russellville who beat Paducah Tilghman 58-51,
