Marshall County Sheriff’s Report November 14th, 2016

On November 13th, Deputy Chris Greenfield responded to a field off of Benton Birmingham Road in reference to a theft. Justin Wadsworth reported that someone had a taken a rifle and scope from his hunting blind. The investigation is continuing.

On November 12th at approximately 2:45pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Moors Camp Highway in reference to a theft from a farm. Lona Dalton reports that someone took fence panels, cattle panels, gates, a hay spear attachment, and a bucket attachment from the farm. The value of items taken exceeds $5000. The investigation is continuing.

On November 10th, Captain Brett Edwards investigated a burglary on Hall Drive in Gilbertsville. According to the report, Robert J. Perrin reports that someone entered a shed and took gasoline, rods and reels, and sinkers. The value of the property taken was over $1000.

On November 9th Captain Brett Edwards was dispatched to the 9000 block of US 62 in reference to a burglary. Billy Sumner reports that someone entered the garage and took tools valued at approximately $6000. The case remains under investigation.

On November 13th at approximately 3:30pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Benton Birmingham Road in reference to a person trespassing. The property manager reported that the person had been told by Officer Treadway of the Benton Police Department not to be back on the property. Deputy Greenfield confirmed that he had been trespassed from the property in July. Howard wayne N. Oakley age 48 of Hardin was charged with Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On November 10th at approximately 9:30pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield responded to area of Phelps Road in reference to a possible intoxicated driver. Deputy Greenfield and Officer Nick Spears of the Benton Police Department located the truck off the roadway in a curve. The driver had walked from the vehicle back to his residence nearby. The subject admitted to driving and to drinking as well as striking mailboxes and street signs on Symsonia Highway. Thomas J. Jameson was transported to Marshall County Hospital to treat his injuries and then arrested and charged with DUI and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

On November 10th, Sergeant Jason Lane responded to Bee Springs Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle. He located a vehicle with the driver slumped over the wheel Sergeant Lane was able to wake the driver and noticed slurred speech. The driver failed field sobriety testing. Nicholas J. Hopper age 23 of Benton was arrested and charged with DUI. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On November 9th, Deputy Jason Ivey responded to Benton Briensburg Road in reference to a vandalism complaint. Wanda Higgins reports that someone had broken windows in three vehicles on the property.
