Marshall County Sheriff’s Report October 3, 2016

On Saturday October 1st at 2:54 a.m. Sgt. Jason Lane and Sgt. Eddie McGuire received a call from dispatch that Mayfield PD was in pursuit of a vehicle northbound on the Purchase Parkway with a possible impaired driver. Deputies deployed spike strips three times and the subject drove around them. The vehicle was finally contained using the PIT maneuver and boxed in. The subject had rammed two different cruisers and smoking his back tires trying to push against three police vehicles still attempting to flee. The subject was resistive and was taken out from behind the wheel by force. The subject stated to medical personnel that he was just drunk and ran from the police. Paul D. Morgan Jr. 24, of Dukedom, TN, was arrested and charged with Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Police Officer), Speeding 20 MPH Over Speed Limit, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container In Motor Vehicle and Criminal Mischief 1st.

On Saturday October 1st Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to the area of Fivestar in Draffenville for a subject that could possibly be under the influence. While in route to the call another caller had called in stating the vehicle had left and was heading on 641 towards Benton. The vehicle was carrying an ATV in the truck bed and it had fallen out in the middle of the road on 641. Officer Nick Spears from Benton Police Department located the vehicle on 641 and the vehicle stopped on Benton Briensburg Road. The subject had a strong smell of alcohol present and he stated he had been drinking. Deputies found an open beer and bottle of Fireball whiskey in the vehicle. David T. Waddell 23, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle.
