MAYFIELD – Back on the field after an injury suffered in the August 23rd 8-4 win over the Lady Marshals, Graves County’s Channing Foster scored two of the Lady Eagles goals Thursday on their way to a 3-1 win.
Marshall County Head Coach Michael Boone said of their second loss this season to Graves County, he hopes this will be a reverse script of last year’s season when the Lady Marshals beat the Lady Eagles twice in regular season but were then beat in the semi-finals of the 2nd District Tournament.
Kat Howard was back in the Lady Marshals line-up after an injury but they were without leading scorer Kayla Travis who was injured in a game last Saturday.
Foster’s first goal for the Lady Eagles came just over 10 minutes into the game. Keeper Allie Fiske, who had nine really nice saves in the game, got a hand on it but was unable to keep it out of the goal. With 10 minutes left in the half, the Lady Marshals had a corner kick that followed a good opportunity to score followed by a yellow issued on Foster for encroachment on the Lady Marshals free kick.
Foster scored her second goal of the game early in the second half for a 2-0 lead the Lady Marshals were able to cut in half at the 20 minute mark on a goal by Bailie Wood and assist by Alli Chancellor. Abby Taylor put the Lady Eagles up 3-1 on a wide open shot with just over 15 minutes to go which would be the final goal of the game. A yellow card was issued to Graves County’s coach Gerardo Herrera near the end of the game.
Both teams shots were all on-goal, 12 for the Lady Eagles and 4 for the Lady Marshals.
The Lady Marshals (6-8-0) have lost four straight and hope to turn that around on Saturday when they host Ohio County at 2:00 pm.
