Kentucky Highway Ranks 14th in Reason Report

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky ranks 14th in the nation in overall highway performance and cost-effectiveness in the new 22nd Annual Highway Report published today by Reason Foundation.

The state’s overall ranking has worsened, it was ranked 10th in the previous report.

Kentucky ranks 38th in fatality rate, 43rd in deficient bridges, 15th in rural Interstate pavement condition, 13th in urban Interstate pavement condition, and 23rd in urbanized area congestion.

On spending, Kentucky ranks 10th in total disbursements per mile and 1st in administrative disbursements per mile.

Kentucky is 43rd in deficient bridges and 40th in rural arterial lane-width.

Kentucky’s state-controlled highway mileage makes it the 8th largest system nationally.

Reason Foundation’s Annual Highway Report is based on spending and performance data that state highway agencies submit themselves to the federal government.
