
DRAFFENVILLE – The annual Lady Marshal Classic was held Saturday at Colburn Stadium. Playing in the first game at 10:00 AM, the Lady Marshals defeated Daviess County 5-1 on 19 shots, 12 on goal and 2 corner kicks. Daviess County took 18 shots, 10 on goal and 4 corners. Lady Marshal goals came from Kayla Travis who had 3 goals with assists on those coming from Camryn Crass, Tori Ford and Carmen Gunn. Daviess County’s goal was scored by Ashlyn Payton. Allie Fiske had 9 saves in the win.
Owensboro Catholic beat McCracken County in the noon game followed by a Lady Marshals JV win 3-0 over McCracken County’s JV at 2:00. In the 4:00 game, Daviess County defeated McCracken County 7-4.
In the final game of the Classic, the Lady Marshals beat Owensboro Catholic 1-0 on a goal by Gunn, assisted by Travis. The Lady Marshals had 3 shots, all 3 on goal compared to 15 shots taken by Owensboro Catholic, 12 of those on goal, with the big shutout going to keeper Fiske with 12 saves in the game.
The Lady Marshals (6-4) have one game scheduled this week at home on Tuesday against Murray (10-1). This weekend they will host the KY vs IN Interstate Rivalry with five games scheduled.
