OWENSBORO – Marshall County’s boy’s golf team traveled to Owensboro Saturday to participate in the Owensboro Catholic Invitational Tournament at Owensboro Country Club.
The Marshals team score of 303 placed them 5th in the field of 18 teams. McCracken County won the team title with a score of 287 and team member Chase Korte earned individual medalist honors with a 9-under 63.
Quinn Eaton and Jay Nimmo led the Marshals with 2-over 74’s, Tyler Powell shot 76 and Garrett Howell 79.
“Our goal this year has been to have four scores in the 70’s and we accomplished that goal today”, Coach Bell said. “Unfortunately, McCracken and three other teams played some really good golf today. As I have been all year long, I’m proud of this group of players and what they continue to accomplish in each tournament.”
“The bar continues to move higher by which we measure ourselves so we will adjust our goals and continue to work extremely hard the remainder of the season. These players work almost every day in order to improve their golf skills and I have confidence that their efforts will be rewarded at the end of the golf season.”
The team would like to invite everyone out to Calvert City Country Club this Saturday, September 3rd, to support the Lady Marshals and Marshals as they host the Marshall County Invitational Tournament. The tournament field is full and spectators can expect to see some of the best high school golfers in Western Kentucky. Start time is 12 noon.
