A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to place traffic striping on highways across the 12 counties of District 1 starting on Friday, July 8, 2016. The striping contractor will initially place 6 inch wide white and yellow lines along Interstate 24 from the Ohio River Bridge at mile point 0.0 extending eastward to the Trigg-Christian County Line at mile point 69.8. The contractor will make several passes eastbound and westbound to place paint along the pavement. Motorists should be alert for a slow-moving work caravan that will include a paint truck and several support vehicles. Motorists should use appropriate caution when overtaking and passing the moving paint operation. While reflective paint used for the stiping dries quickly, motorists should avoid driving across fresh paint while driving near the work caravan. Once the contractor completes traffic striping operations along Interstate 24, the crew will be moving to other highways across the district. This mobile crew will be on the road during daylight hours anytime weather allows for the next couple of months.
