HOPKINSVILLE – Abby Fiessinger’s 2-out 2-run home run in the Lady Marshals final at bat put them up 6-5 over #17 Christian County, with a final chance for the Lady Colonels to take the win looking up after singles by Macy Lancaster and Emily Blane put the winning run on 1st.
A pop up caught by Fiessinger and fly out to centerfield pulled in by Lexee Miller left it all up to Alexis Sumner who had already hit two over the fence in the 2nd and 4th innings. With a 2-2 count, Sumner smacked one out to right field that was caught at the fence by MacKenzie Harper.
After leading 4-0 in the 2nd inning on a 2-run double by Gracey Murt and 2-run double by Miller, the Lady Marshals found themselves trialing by 1 after Christian County’s 4-run 4th inning.
Coach Trent Lovett in post-game comments said he was proud of his team for not giving up.
“This is good for our confidence, especially after the loss the other night, they were down a little bit”, Lovett said.
Gabi Snow got the win in 7 innings, striking out 1, allowing 12 hits and 5 runs. Fiessinger made good use of her 1 hit in the game, turning it into a 2-run home run, Miller had a double and 2 RBIs and Murt hit a double and drove in 2 runs.
