LOUISVILLE – Marshall County golfers took home winning trophies at the Musselman-Dunn Junior and College Golf Tour’s Four Ball Championship. The team of Quinn Eaton and Garrett Howell won the boys 15-19 age division while Savannah Howell and her partner Kate Hanni (from Ashland, Ky) won the girls 12-14 age division.
The Four Ball is a team stroke play event where each player plays their own ball but the best score on each hole counts as the team score. The Championship was a two day tournament played at Audubon Country Club in Louisville.
Eaton and Howell got off to a hot start on Saturday by birdieing 6 holes on the front nine. They ended the day with an astonishing 8 under 64 and a 4 shot lead over Lyon County’s Cullen Brown and his partner Jay Kirchdorfer.
On Sunday they shot a steady even par 72 as their first round lead was too much for Brown/Kirchdorfer of Cook/Gillum’s 68 to catch them.
Savannah Howell and her partner Kate Hanni shot 85 on Saturday. On Sunday they came back with an impressive 80. Savannah is 12 and Kate is 13 and the yardage is 5300 yards.
Also playing in the Four Ball event from Marshall County was Hallie Riley and Jay Nimmo.
